Sardinia 2015, 15th International Waste Management and Landfill Symposium,

5-9 October 2015, Sardinia/Cagliari

Within the scope of this research, Hamitler landfill and the energy conversion plant has been monitored between July 2012 and September 2014. Monitoring data consists of the amount and composition of the solid waste accepted to the landfill; the leachate characteristics such as flowrate and composition; the landfill gas composition and flowrate; the electricity generated, etc.  The monitoring data was statistically evaluated by using the SPSS program (PASW Statistics 18.0.0 v.). The relationships between the parameters such as landfill gas flowrate, amount of the solid waste disposed, seasonal temperature variations, leachate flowrate, energy generation rate, etc. were explored. The landfill components such as active cells and passive cells were separately considered while exploring the statistical relationships. The average amount of the solid waste disposed at the site is about 2228±719 kg/day. The flowrate of the landfill gas collected from the site amounts to 110029±11672 m3/day. Landfill gas flowrate was found to be affected from the temperature variations during the whole year.
